THE SYSTEM

Every output is input.

Rekursive is music created through a repeated feedback process. A piece of existing sound is physically manipulated on CDJs. That result becomes material inside a DAW. That result becomes input for a generative model. That result is cut apart again. Processed. Recontextualised. Generated again. Destroyed again. Rebuilt again. Until something survives.

The individual tools change. The human function does not.

01 / THESIS

When creation becomes infinite, selection becomes authorship.

We are entering an era where execution is nearly frictionless. A person can describe an image and receive one. Describe a song and receive one. Describe a video and receive one.

That does not make taste obsolete. It makes taste more important.

Rekursive treats generated output as raw material, not finished work. A generation is no more sacred than a sample. A sample is no more sacred than a recording. A recording is no more sacred than a synth patch. Everything can become input again.

The art is no longer only in producing the material. It is in deciding what survives, what disappears, what gets repeated, what gets corrupted, what gets fed back into the machine — and when the loop finally stops.

02 / RELEASE LANGUAGE

SEED
The original source.
PASS
One complete transformation.
RETURN
Material reintroduced.
BRANCH
Alternate path explored.
STATE
Current form.
HALT
The human decision. The end.

THE MACHINE CAN CONTINUE FOREVER.

HALT IS HUMAN.

03 / RULES

  1. 01

    No raw generation ships

Nothing that came straight out of a model becomes a finished Rekursive release. Not once.

  2. 02

    Every generation is altered

A model output must be cut, processed or recontextualised by hand before it is allowed to become the next input.

  3. 03

    Physical manipulation survives

Every finished record contains material that was physically handled at the CDJ stage. Hands stay in the signal path.

  4. 04

    Artifacts are allowed to live

Bad stretching. Impossible transients. Strange breaths. Hallucinated instruments. Failed separations. Generation seams. They are evidence of the process, not mistakes to hide.

  5. 05

    Each release feeds the next

A texture, a transient, a vocal fragment, a drum, a spectral fingerprint. Something always carries forward. The catalog is recursive, not a collection of unrelated singles.

04 / CHECKSUM

One fragment survives everything.

Somewhere inside the first Rekursive record there is a sonic object roughly two hundred milliseconds long. Every release since contains a descendant of it — stretched, pitched, granulated, regenerated, reversed, resynthesised, destroyed. Never removed. The newest track technically contains genetic material from the first. Nobody needs to hear it. It is there anyway.

The machine can make another one. So can I.

Another melody. Another image. Another arrangement. Another possibility. There is no shortage of possibility anymore.

That isn't the problem. The problem is deciding what deserves to exist.

Generate it. Cut it apart. Feed it back. Listen again. Keep what matters. Destroy what doesn't. Repeat.

EVERY OUTPUT IS INPUT.

THE HUMAN IS THE CONSTANT.
